Khidr Issue 1

Zain co-founded Khidr Collective in March 2017 with Hadi Abbas.  Khidr Collective is a multi-disciplinary arts collective platforming the work of Muslim artists.

Zain lead on the editing, art direction and fund-raising of issue 1.  He successfully applied for £5,000 funding from Amal and fund-raised £3,000 via a crowdfunder.  Zain worked on the logo design of Khidr Collective with designer Derkan Dogan, co-wrote editorial guidelines and commissioned a range of pieces.

The first issue featured writers and artists including, Lena Mohamed, Wasi Daniju, Zia Ahmed, Momtaza Mehri, Jamal Mehmood and Hareem Ghani.  Zain also contributed a poem to issue 1.

Zain also lead on programming the launch, held at Rich Mix which featured contributors from the issue.
